Disability Rights
Reasonable Accommodation & Modification Policy
People with disabilities have the right to request changes that let them fully use and enjoy their home. Here is what that means and exactly how to ask.
Effective date: August 14, 2026 · Last reviewed: August 14, 2026
Accommodation vs. modification
- Reasonable accommodation
- A change to a rule, policy, practice, or service, for example, allowing an assistance animal in a no-pets building, or providing a reserved accessible parking space.
- Reasonable modification
- A physical change to the unit or common area, for example, installing a grab bar or a ramp.
Assistance animals are not pets
Who pays for what
- Accommodations (policy changes) are provided by us at no cost to you.
- Modifications (physical changes) are generally at the resident's expense in private housing; where required, we will not unreasonably withhold permission, and we may ask that the work be done in a workmanlike manner and, where reasonable, restored on move-out.
How to request
You do not need a special form or any legal wording. Simply let us know what you need and why it is connected to a disability. Contact:
- Phone: 717-326-1767
- Email: info@ws-pm.com
- Mail: West Shore Property Management LLC, 700 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011
Documentation we may, and may not, request
If a disability or the disability-related need is not obvious, we may request reliable information confirming that you have a disability and that the requested change is connected to it. We will not ask for your specific diagnosis or detailed medical records, and we will keep information you provide confidential.
This policy is informational and not legal advice. It summarizes rights under the federal Fair Housing Act, Section 504, the ADA where applicable, and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
